ZERO HEIGHT SAFETY

ZERO Height Safety is a specialist manufacturer and wholesaler of fall protection and height safety PPE, supporting safer work at height across New Zealand and Australia for more than 25 years. Our role extends beyond product supply, with a clear commitment to leadership, education and the advancement of best practice in working at height.

At our core, ZERO is a specialist manufacturer and wholesaler of fall protection and height safety PPE. However, our role in the industry extends well beyond product supply. We see ourselves as contributors to the broader conversation around working at height, engaging with safety professionals, regulators, procurement leaders and industry bodies to influence how risk is understood, specified and managed in modern workplaces.

ZERO designs, develops and distributes a comprehensive range of fall protection equipment that is manufactured in Europe through long-term specialist partners. This approach reflects a deliberate commitment to quality, consistency and technical credibility. European manufacturing enables close alignment with rigorous standards, advanced materials and proven production methodologies, ensuring our products are robust, durable and fit for demanding industrial environments.

European manufacture at ZERO is not about exclusivity or premium pricing. From the outset, our focus has been on making high-quality fall protection accessible to all workers where falls are a risk. We believe meaningful improvements in safety outcomes only occur when quality equipment is widely adopted, not limited to high-budget applications. By designing products with scalability, efficiency and real-world use in mind, we have positioned European-manufactured PPE at price points that support broad industry uptake without compromising performance or compliance. This balance between quality and accessibility supports organisations who seek to elevate protection standards across entire workforces, rather than selectively.

A complete fall protection system approach

ZERO offers a full portfolio of fall protection equipment designed to function as integrated systems rather than isolated products. Our range includes safety harnesses, lanyards, connectors, anchors, ropes and rope access equipment, self-retracting lifelines, rescue and evacuation solutions, and industrial head protection.

We recognise that fall risk cannot be effectively managed by individual components alone. Protection depends on how equipment interacts with the user, the task and the environment. For this reason, our product development and technical guidance focus on system thinking, ensuring compatibility, correct application and practical usability in real work scenarios.

This systems-based approach is supported by strong technical expertise and a deep understanding of standards and certification requirements. ZERO works directly with notified bodies and certification partners to ensure our products align with applicable European, Australian and international standards, while also reflecting how work at height is actually undertaken on site.

Leadership in modern industrial head protection

When it comes to head protection, ZERO has played a pivotal role over the past decade in transitioning industries away from traditional hard hats and towards modern multi-impact tested helmets. This shift has been driven by a clear objective to reduce the risk of traumatic brain injury by addressing impact scenarios that traditional head protection was never designed to manage.

Historically, industrial head protection focused on vertical impacts to the crown of the head, largely associated with falling objects. However, modern worksites present very different risk profiles. Slips, trips and falls from height or on the same level often result in lateral, rearward or angled impacts, particularly in dynamic environments such as construction, scaffolding, maintenance and infrastructure projects.

ZERO has consistently advocated for head protection that reflects these realities. By promoting multi-impact tested helmets that provide protection beyond vertical impacts, we have supported a broader shift in how head injury risk is understood and mitigated. This has involved close collaboration with industry leaders, principal contractors and safety professionals, alongside ongoing engagement with regulators and standard-setting bodies.

The transition from hard hats to modern helmets in New Zealand is a clear example of how education, evidence and leadership can drive meaningful change. Over the past five years, this shift has accelerated significantly, with large-scale construction and civil organisations now mandating multi-impact tested helmets across their operations. ZERO is proud to have contributed to this change through sustained advocacy, technical guidance and practical product solutions.

Education, advocacy and industry engagement

ZERO is grounded in a strong commitment to education and advocacy. We believe that improving safety outcomes requires more than supplying compliant equipment. It requires informed decision-making at every level. We actively engage with industry stakeholders to improve understanding of fall protection systems, head protection performance and evolving standards. This includes supporting training initiatives, contributing to technical discussions, and providing clear, evidence-based guidance to help organisations move beyond minimum compliance towards genuinely effective protection strategies.

Our engagement is not limited to customers or resellers. ZERO works with industry bodies, associations and thought leaders to support consistent messaging around best practice in working at height. By aligning technical understanding with practical application, we aim to reduce confusion in the market and support safer, more confident decision-making.

Innovation driven by real-world use

Innovation is driven by real-world challenges faced by people working at height. Across our fall protection and head protection ranges, we integrate advanced materials and technologies to improve protection, comfort and usability.

Comfort and wearability are treated as critical safety factors, recognising that PPE is only effective when it is worn correctly and consistently.

Our product development process is informed by direct feedback from end users, service technicians and safety professionals. This ensures innovations are practical, durable and suited to the environments in which they are used, rather than theoretical or marketing driven.

Supporting compliance and long-term safety performance

Beyond manufacturing and wholesale supply, ZERO supports organisations with technical guidance, system selection and ongoing compliance considerations. We recognise that maintaining effective fall protection systems requires more than initial installation or purchase.

Through our network of authorised service agents and technical specialists, we support inspection, maintenance and recertification requirements, helping organisations manage risk over the full lifecycle of their equipment. This long-term view supports both safety outcomes and asset performance, reducing downtime and extending product life.

We also recognise the importance of clear, transparent communication around compliance and certification. ZERO is committed to providing accurate technical documentation and guidance, supporting informed procurement decisions and regulatory alignment.

Industry responsibility

We recognise the vital role the WAHA plays in promoting best practice, supporting industry capability and influencing policy related to working at height.

Improving safety at height requires collaboration, shared knowledge and a willingness to challenge legacy practices. As the height landscape continues to evolve, ZERO Height Safety remains committed to playing an active role in shaping that future, through continued investment in product development, education and industry engagement.
