IRATA International
The Industrial Rope Access Trade Association, IRATA International (IRATA) is the leading worldwide authority on industrial rope access. The IRATA rope access method has set the standard for safe working at height over the past 35 years with an unrivalled safety record. Its pioneers continually strive to promote global awareness of its efficient, safe and environmentally advantageous methods.
IRATA has over 750 member companies currently operating across 71 countries ranging across industry sectors such as oil and gas, construction, renewable energy, geo-technical and non-destructive testing. IRATA certification is widely recognised as the industry standard for rope access personnel and has over 110,000 qualified technicians worldwide who are trained to the highest standard based on the IRATA Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme (TACS). Certification is based upon the successful attainment of technical skills, theoretical knowledge, and workplace experience.
Working at height safely is not achieved without diligence and application. IRATA’s safe working record is demonstrated in its unique annual safety analysis produced since 1997. The Work and Safety Analysis (WASA) is the most comprehensive safety analysis in the sector, reporting over 32 million hours worked in 2023.
IRATA International and the Working at Height Association of Australia (WAHA) have had longstanding relationship, through the IRATA Regional Advisory Committee, IRATA Australasia. Â
By entering a strategic partnership, the WAHA and IRATA have agreed to support each other through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and share the following goals and objectives:Â
- Develop strategies targeting key stakeholders within government and industry with regards to increasing the profile and positive actions required to address safe work at height, training and legislation that affects our industries.
- WAHA and IRATA to provide content, subject matter expertise and technical support to achieve these goals.Â
- WAHA and IRATA to be acknowledged as bipartisan, peak bodies providing guidance to those stakeholders needing and to meet regulatory requirements.
- IRATA to be promoted as the representative and leading voice for safety for the professional rope access community.
- IRATA and WAHA to develop synchronised campaigns and actions targeting key focus areas.
- IRATA and WAHA to support each party in their activities and collaborate to affect positive changes in safety culture.
